Full Description

The Church of All Saints in North Scarle is essentially Early English. In the north aisle lies a big Norman capital. It was destroyed by fire in 1342 and supposedly rebuilt in the fourteenth century. It was extensively restored and the north aisle was rebuilt by Comper in 1898 who restored the church in 1895-1898. {1}{2}{3} For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {4} Tree-ring samples were taken of the bellframe and belfry floor in 2010, in order to inform the proposed renovation of the church bells. Analysis showed that the bellframe is made of timbers felled in 1716, whilst the belfry floor contains some timbers felled in 1482. {5}
