Full Description
Several archaeological features were observed in this area in July 1996, during archaeological monitoring of new development on land between 416-417 High Street. The features could not be investigated in detail due to safety concerns regarding the depth of the groundworks, but consisted of at least two large, cut features, possibly being the remains of former pits or ditches. No dating evidence for any of the features could be recovered, however, and their exact origins and function remains unknown. {1}{2}
