Description

An archaeological watching brief was conducted during groundworks for the construction of a new residential/retail development on land between 416-417 High Street, Lincoln. Several archaeological features were observed in the eastern part of the site, although these could not be investigated in detail due to safety concerns regarding the depth of the groundworks. The archaeological remains consisted of at least two large, cut features, possibly being the remains of former pits or ditches. No dating evidence for any of the features could be recovered, however, and their exact origins and function remains unknown. {1}{2}
