Full Description

PRN 60884 An alleged early Saxon inhumation is recorded at this location. This is noted on a list of early Saxon finds compiled by Hilary Healey in 1983, and no further information is known about this site. (See also PRN 60374, an unlocated early Saxon burial from near Mareham Lane - could these be the same site, or related?) {1} A single inhumation with plain pot near the skull and sherds of stamped ware and Stamford ware was found at approx. TF 076 458 in 1959. {2}{4} Other skeletons, undated, were found in this area during the 19th or early 20th century. {3}
