PRN 60536
An evaluation (trial trenching) was undertaken on land within the southern part of the camp at RAF Digby, Ashby de la Launde. The work identified the presence of thinly distributed archaeological deposits of unknown date in a generally good state of preservatiion. These included a single, large enclosure ditch, a group of land dividing ditches and possible timber structures. However, as they were undated, it is possible that these features are related to the construction and use of the RAF camp.{1}{2}{3}
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken on land at Cuckoo Lane, RAF Digby, Ashby de la Launde. The watching brief monitored groundworks associated with the construction of new airmen's married quarters. The work succeeded in mapping the southern extent of a major ditch first recognised during earlier excavations. Unfortunately, its date and function could not be determined, but its depth and width suggests a significant land dividing feature probably predating the enclosure of the fields.{4}{5}{6}
