Full Description
A SURFACE SCATTER OF ROMANO-BRITISH POTTERY FOUND EAST OF CLIFF FARM BY WASHINGBOROUGH PARISH PROJECT. {1}~, HTM 26M
Field 4 of the Washingborough Archaeology Group fieldwalking project has been divided into 5 smaller blocks (4.1-4.5). In the eastern part of the field (Fields 4.1-4.3) a concentration of Romano-British pottery was noted, particularly in the north-eastern part of 4.2 (175 sherds of greyware) and the northwestern part of 4.3 (115 sherds of greyware). It is conjectured that this concentration may represent a manuring scatter, and was threrefore part of a Roman field system. Field 4.1 contained 14 sherds of greyware and 1 sherd of Samian. {2}
