OS RECORDS AIR PHOTO. ROMAN OCCUPATION SITE? CROPMARKS MARKED ON MAP, BUT NO FURTHER INFORMATION. THE MARKED CROPMARKS APPEAR TO SHOW A BUILDING WITHIN A SUB-RECTANGULAR ENCLOSURE. THE BUILDING APPEARS TO BE A REGULAR RECTANGULAR SHAPE EAST-WEST, WITH A WING AT THE WEST END PROTRUDING TO THE SOUTH. POSSIBLY THE SITE OF A VILLA, LYING ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE FOSS WAY? {1} The sketch of the cropmarks on the six inch SMR map comes from the original sketch by C. W.
