Full Description

PRN 60260 Moated site. {1}{2}{3} This moated site was ploughed out sometime shortly after winter 1970-1. A watching brief was carried out during the ploughing and an area of masonry was observed within the central platform, including a possible oven utilising an old millstone. {6} This site is visible on aerial photographs. On photographs from 1981 the site shows up as a distinct cropmark which appears to show a linear feature extending westwards from the north western corner of the moat. This feature is not visible as an earthwork on earlier photos. {7}{8}{9}
