Full Description

PRN 54278 A significant number of late Anglo-Saxon Torksey and Lincoln Kiln ware pottery sherds were recovered during an evaluation on land at Home Farm, Laughterton, from the same trench as medieval settlement remains. No structural remains were recorded, and a gully was the only feature dated to the late Saxon period. Nevertheless, the quantity of pottery recovered suggests the presence of late Anglo-Saxon settlement in Laughterton. Neither Laughterton or Kettlethorpe are mentioned in the Domesday Book, and the Anglo-Saxon remains on this site lend weight to the theory that parts of the Domesday Book have been lost. {1}{2}
