Full Description

During a watching brief on land at Main Street, Kirkby-cum-Osgodby, several features, belonging to a number of different phases were recorded. Most of these were linear features, thought to represent drainage and/or enclosure ditches. There was no dating evidence for these features, and this lack of artefactual evidence suggests that they are 'field' features rather than structural/occupational features. {1}{2} Seven linear features, thought to represent former field boundaries or ditches, were revealed in May 2008, during the archaeological monitoring of the construction of replacement outbuildings at Church View House, Kirkby-cum-Osgodby. No finds were recovered, however, and the features remain undated. Development of the site was suspended until June 2012, when a second and final phase of archaeological monitoring was conducted. An additional stratified deposit and linear deposit of undeterminate date was recorded. {3}{4}
