THE SETTLEMENT OF SEARBY, WHILST SHOWING LITTLE DOCUMENTED POPULATION GROWTH FROM C11 LEVEL, EQUALLY SHOWS BO SHARP OR PERMANENT DECLINE. YET IN 1607 IT WAS REPORTED AS HAVING BEEN GREATLY DEPOPULATED. THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A MEDIEVAL MANORIAL COMPLEX NORTH OF THE CHURCH AND OTHER CONTIGUOUS ELEMENTS. SLIGHT EARTHWORKS REMAIN. {1}
