Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

PRN 53313 THERE IS A SPARSE SCATTER OF ROMAN POTTERY AND OYSTER SHELLS, WHICH RUNS ROUGHLY PARALLEL TO THE ROAD. IT MAY REPRESENT DITCHES/FIELDS ASSOCIATED WITH THE MAIN SITE (53312). {1} A weak and intermittent curvilinear anomaly was recorded during geophysical survey in advance of the construction of a gas pipeline. This anomaly probably represents a poorly preserved ditch. No further anomalies of archaeological origin were recorded. {2} A watching brief during the pipeline construction failed to locate the ditch recorded during the geophysical survey. Other features were noted, but none of Roman date. {3}
