Full Description
Blyton railway bridge was built c.1840-50. It is of considerable size and carries the Gainsborough to Blyton road (the A159) over the two-track Retford-Grimsby line (of the former Manchester, Sheffield and Lincoln Railway and Great Central Railway). It is constructed of purple bricks and is approximately 225ft long on the road and approximately 20ft at track level. The two tracks pass through the centre of three arches. A notice concerning weights which the bridge will carry is attached and signed by Mr Pollitt, Manager of GCR. {1}
