Full Description

Possible ridge and furrow field system cropmarks. {1} More extensive ridge and furrow, to the north-west of that originally recorded, was identified during analysis of aerial photographs in 2010. Cropmarks of east to west aligned ridge and furrow were discerned, along with a north to south aligned former field boundary or plough headland. {2} Traces of the ridge and furrow were recorded during a magnetometry survey, conducted in March 2011, in advance of the proposed construction of a new water treatment works to the south-west of Newton on Trent. The features were recorded as a number of linear magnetic anomalies, running in an east to west alignment. {3}{4}
