THE SETTLEMENT IS OF OUTSTAINDING INTEREST BECAUSE OF THE EXCELLENT DOCUMENTATION OF ITS POST MEDIEVAL AND EARLY MODERN DECLINE THROUGH A SERIES OF ESTATE AND PRINTED MAPS FROM ABOUT 1600 ONWARDS.
