Full Description

51142 A dug-out boat ('Bardney 2') made of oak found in about 1829 during the construction of Horsley Deeps lock (also known as Bardney lock). The boat was 30 feet 8 inches (9.3m) long, 3 feet (0.9m) wide and was found 8 feet (2.4m) below the ground surface. The dimensions, however, are similar to those of the dug-out boat found in about 1816 two miles east of Lincoln (PRN 60924). It is possibly the same boat. {1}
