Summary

SITE OF A C19 BRICKYARD

Type and Period (1)

  • (Post Medieval - 1800 AD to 1900 AD)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

An alleged moated site, levelled in 1967. Ponds shown on the 1886 first edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map are clearly the result of clay digging for brickmaking. A spread of brick and tile visible after ploughing is probably the site of a brickyard known in 1926 to have been working in living memory. {1}
