Full Description

Pagan Saxon pottery was found close to the double-cist burials excavated nearby in 1982, though not associated with the graves (see PRN 51110). {1} Two sherds of Anglo-Saxon pottery were recovered during a walkover survey centred on SK 9448 8596, the first dating to the 9th or 10th century, the second to the early to mid-Anglo-Saxon period. A possible very small mid-Anglo-Saxon knife was also found, but this is not certainly of Anglo-Saxon date. {2}
