CROPMARKS NOTICED FROM THE AIR BY GORDON TAYLOR IN 1967. A COMPLEX SYSTEM OF DITCHES OR PALISADE TRENCHES DEFINING RECTANGULAR ENCLOSURES. TWO PHASES APPARENT. {1} AN AREA OF CROPMARKS EXTENDING ON EITHER SIDE OF THE MARKET RASEN ROAD, INCLUDING REGULAR RECTANGULAR DITCHED ENCLOSURES - PROBABLY FIELD BOUNDARIES, WITH POSSIBLE SETTLEMENT ENCLOSURES AND TRACKWAYS, SEEN ON PAUL EVERSON APs OF 1976, 1977 AND 1979. {3} ROMANO-BRITISH POTTERY FOUND NEAR STOPE HILL FARM (PRN 50879 AND 50888) MAY INDICATE A POSSIBLE ROMAN DATE FOR THE ENCLOSURES. ALSO INTEPRETED AS A PREHISTORIC CROPMARK SETTLEMENT. {8}
