Full Description

The church of St. Nicholas was built in 1866. The preceding church was built in 1780. {1} The previous church had a clerestory with big quatrefoil windows. It was demolished sometime before the present church was built in 1866. {1}{2} St. Nicholas's church was built in 1866 by James Fowler. The west tower has rather mannered details. There is a nave and apse and the interior of the church is red brick, with some yellow and black bricks. There are good fittings which are probably also by Fowler. {2} A parish church, built in 1866 by James Fowler, from coursed and rock faced limestone rubble. {3}
