Full Description
At TF04228814 is a memorial cross incorporating two Anglo-Saxon cross fragments; both are richly decorated and badly weathered but probably originally came from the same monument. {1}{2}
Two stones built into the church, with the usual interlacement. They are 17 inches by 10.5 inches in size. One of the stones is the middle portion of the complete slab and has a central division. {3}
Incorporated in a bracket upon the interior south wall of the nave is a fragment of a cross shaft. It bears a single grooved two strand interlace but insufficient remains to determine the exact pattern. White limestone is the material used both here and in the two slabs previously noted by Davies which are now built into a memorial cross standing in the churchyard south-east of the church. {4}
Pevsner summarises:- two late Anglo-Saxon cross shafts with interlace (now a monument in the churchyard, south-east of the church) part of a third mounted of a re-used bracket. {5}
Two former Anglo Saxon cross shafts, which were erected as monument in 1944. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {6}
