PRN 50312 Earthwork remains of 16th-17th century gardens which belonged to a house 'of some pretension'. The house is shown on the Binbrook Enclosure Map of 1740 as a substantial residence with a symmetrical façade. In the 19th century this house was substantially remodelled and enlarged. {1} The First Edition 6 inch Ordnance Survey Map shows an area of parkland surrounding Orford House. This was not shown on the 1905 Ordnance Survey Map. {2}{3} Orford House, Stainton Le Vale. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with linked working buildings to all four sides of the yard. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been significant loss (greater than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located to the side of the site. {4}
