Full Description

ITS DOCUMENTED EXISTENCE AS A SETTLEMENT IN 1086 RELIES ON AN INCORRECT IDENTIFICATION WITH COLDECOTES, WHICH WAS EVIDENTLY A SEPARATE SETTLEMENT. IT IS CERTAINLY FIRST RECORDED IN 1199-1200 OR EARLIER AS A HOLDING OF THE CISTERCIAN ABBEY AT LOUTH PARK, FOUNDED IN 1139, AND THEREAFTER FROM THE MID THIRTEENTH CENTURY AS A GRANGE OF THAT ABBEY. {2}, HTM 35M
