Full Description

PRN 50269 Almshouse founded in 1495 by Thomas, first Lord Burgh of Gainsborough. It stood at or near Albert Square and was either confiscated by the crown in 1545 or utilised for the old poor house. {1}{2} Albert Square existed at SK 8148 9025. Until recently this area was covered by a gas works extension, which has itself been demolished. No remains of the almshouse or poor house were identified. {1}
