Full Description

IT SEEMS LIKELY THAT POST-DISSOLUTION THERE WAS A MOVE FROM THE GRANGE OF ACREHOUSE (50227) TO THIS SITE ON THE WOLDS SCARP. THESE LANDS WERE ALSO PART OF THE NEWSHAM ABBEY ESTATE. THIS FARM WAS BUILT AS ACREHOUSE IN 1778-79 AND WAS OCCUPIED BY GEORGE WHITWORTH IN 1842 AND ROBERT GOOSEMAN IN 1856. IT WAS ABANDONED IN THE 1850s FOR THE PRESENT ACREHOUSE (50228) 300m TO THE EAST. {1}, HTM 125M
