Full Description

PRN 50010 THE BASE OF A CROSS AND PART OF THE SHAFT IN A FIELD AT LITTLE LIMBER. {1}, HTM 35M An archaeological survey was undertaken on lands forming part of the Brocklesby Estate, comprising field observation and rapid fieldwalking (on a non-collecting basis) and a desk-top assessment. This was done to appraise the archaeological resource of the estate as part of a wider Heritage Landscape Management Plan. The stonework at Little Limber was appraised and photographed - the stone (measuring 0.84m x 0.32m x 0.16m) has shallow vertical recesses, and may have originally a medieval door-jamb, possibly from a status building such as a hall or church. The stone would appear to have moved from its original position {3}
