Full Description

PRN 50009 A flattish mound, about 45 feet in diameter. It is probably a steading. {1} An archaeological survey was undertaken on lands forming part of the Brocklesby Estate. The survey identified a c.14m diameter by c.1m high mound, with a flattish top, slight depression on the west side (probably due to poaching by cattle) and the suggestion of a ditch on the eastern side. The mound appeared to lay on an earth platform c.90m east to west and 45m north to south. It lies on the south side of a low narrow valley which had been dug out to hold water. The platform is probably made from the spoil created by the digging out of the dry valley. {3}
