Full Description

Mablethorpe and Sutton Railway Station opened on the 17 October, 1877. It was originally the terminus of the Louth and East Coast railway. The line to Louth was closed in 1960, and the station was demolished in the 1970s. The east platform had a two-storey brick house/booking hall with a small wooden canopy. The station had a slate roof, a lattice footbridge, and an island platform, used for excursions. There was a wooden waiting room with a canopy, approximately 30 feet by 15 feet. A brick goods shed, approximately 50 feet by 25 feet was next to the island platform. North of the station was a siding on a rising bank, with a turntable siding for locomotives, with a water tower and concrete hut. A wooden signal box was to the east of the east platform. {1}
