Summary
HUMAN REMAINS FOUND AT ROUND HILLS HOLT, WINCEBY
Type and Period (2)
Protected Status/Designation
- None recorded
Full Description
This corner of the road was widened in 1932 and skeletons were found which were said to be associated with the Battle of Winceby (1643), see PRN 42274. This seems unlikely as each man had what sounds like the umbo (shield boss) of an Anglo-Saxon shield associated with him. {1}
Human remains, two iron spearheads and wooden bowls were found when the road was widened at Round Hills in 1932. {2}
There remains uncertainty about the dating of these finds.
