Full Description

INTERPRETED AS A KITCHEN MIDDEN OR SALTERN SITE. THE MOUND STOOD 3-8' HIGH OF SILT AND WAS CUT THROUGH BY A RAILWAY TO EXPOSE WORKED CLAY DESCRIBED AS 'TUB-SHAPED GRAVES'. AROUND THESE 'GRAVES' WERE COCKLE AND MUSSEL SHELLS, POTTERY, BONE, BURNT EARTH AND FLINT. BELOW EACH PIT WAS A CLAY FLOOR WITH 'BLACK MATTER' LYING ON IT. {1}{2}{3}
