Full Description
Sherds of Roman pottery were identified in 1975, during the digging of a telephone cable trench to the north of the main road in Burgh le Marsh. The assemblage was largely comprised of 4th century Swanpool wares, and was recovered from a depth of approximately 1m, from what was thought to be the edge of a possible Roman ditch. Other finds from the same location reported a year later include a shale bracelet, organic material and more 4th century pottery including Dales type ware. {1}{2}
