PRN 41313
St Andrew's Church dates to the Norman period (1066AD to 1200AD) but has also evidence for Saxon work. The church retains a Norman north doorway, south window, south doorway and Norman masonry in the chancel. Below the east window is a stone block, probably the keystone of the rib vault from Louth Abbey or Legbourne Priory. {1}{2}
The church was altered in 1851, restored in 1895 and again in 1903 when presumably the Saxon work was uncovered. {3}
During a watching brief in 1998, an undated indeterminate feature was recorded. The presence of undateable tile in the fill may indicate an association with the restoration of the church in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.{5}{6}
