Full Description

The Church of St Helen was rebuilt between 1881 and 1885, but retains Norman to Perpendicular features (1066AD to around 1520AD). {1}{2}{3} A parish church dating from the 13th century which underwent alterations in the 14th and 15th centuries. The chancel was built by G.E. Street in 1867 and the tower was rebuilt in 1881 to 1884. It was constructed of squared greenstone rubble with limestone ashlar dressings, squared limestone rubble and red brick patching and has slate and leaded roofs. There is a western tower, a clerestoried nave, aisles, a chancel, a vestry and a south porch.
