Full Description
St Michael's Church, a parish church dating from the 13th century which underwent significant alterations in the 14th and 17th centuries before being renovated in 1848. {1}{2}{3}
The roof has suffered the theft of its lead which resulted in its closing in 2013, and during a historic building survey in 2021 tarpaulins and boards were noted as being used to make the building more weatherproof. The building was observed to have five broad phases of development, including its 13th century origin, an enlargement in the 14th century along with a new tower and porch in Perpendicular style, a possible raising of the tower when new bells were added in the 17th century, and a full restoration in 1848 and 1885-1886. {4}{5}
