FROM AN INHUMATION BURIAL. MACMILLAN PURCHASED A LONG BROOCH AND TWO BOW BROOCHES (DATED c.560 AND A PAIR) FROM THIMBLEBY, PROBABLY THIS PLACE IN LINCOLNSHIRE. THE LONG BROOCH IS A 'SOMEWHAT LATER TYPE WITH THE HORSE-SHOE MOTIF AT THE BASE.'{1} TWO BROOCHES PURCHASED IN 1969 BY MANCHESTER MUSEUM.{2}
