PRN 40116 KIRKSTEAD ABBEY WAS MOVED TO ITS PRESENT SITE IN 1187. THE ABBEY WAS HOWEVER, FOUNDED ELSEWHERE. IT WAS MOVED A SHORT DISTANCE' FROM THE FOUNDATION SITE OF 1139.{1} REUSED MEDIEVAL BRICKS AND MASONRY PROBABLY DERIVED FROM THE ABBEY FOUND DURING ALTERATION OF EXISTING FARM BUILDING AT OLD ABBEY FARM. {2}{3}, HTM 3
