Full Description

PRN 40035 St Peter's (or St Helen's?) church, Stixwould was rebuilt in the Gothic style in 1831, and enlarged in 1864, re-using the original church for materials. {3}{4}{5} Several stone coffins from the priory are also in the church. The coffins, which are mostly broken, are piled up against the north wall of the tower. At the east end of the south aisle is part of a lid, carved with a cross and a nun's head. {9} A parish church rebuilt in 1831 by Christopher Turner, incorporating some earlier fabric. The parish of Stixwould is now part of the parish of Stixwould and Woodhall.
