THE MEDIEVAL SETTLEMENT OF STUBTON ('STUBTUNE' OR 'STUBTUN') IS MENTIONED IN THE DOMESDAY SURVEY. LAND THERE WAS OWNED BY NORMAN DE ARCI AND GEOFFREY ALSELI. {1} THERE ARE THE REMAINS OF AN EXTENSIVE RIDGE AND FURROW FIELD SYSTEM AROUND THE PRESENT VILLAGE. MUCH OF IT IS VISIBLE AS CROPMARKS ON APS. {2}
