Full Description
Site recognised as that of an earlier church, no surface evidence. Stood immediately in front of the portico of the present hall (built 1813-14). It was a small church, said to resemble Claypole (ie Decorated to Perpendicular) in such bad state of repair that it was pulled down by Sir Robert Heron, who built the present church on new site in 1800 (PRN 30226).{1}{2}{3}{4}
Burials discovered in 1975 in drainage trenches by the hall. Suggested 18th century.{5}
A church is mentioned in the Domesday survey. {7}
