Full Description

WORK ON A SITE AT LONG STREET IDENTIFIED AN IRREGULAR FEATURE CONTAINING FIRED CLAY AND PARTIALLY BURNT BONE. THERE WERE THE REMAINS OF A POSSIBLE STONE LINING SHOWING SIGNS OF BURNING AND ALTHOUGH THE PURPOSE AND DATE OF THE STRUCTURE WAS NOT DETERMINED ITS FORM IS REMINISCENT OF A SINGLE FLUE UPDRAFT KILN PERHAPS USED FOR DRYING CORN. THERE WAS ALSO AN UNDATED LINEAR GULLY AND A SERIES OF PITS CONTAINING DISARTICULATED ANIMAL BONES BUT NO DATABLE ARTEFACTS. {1}{2}
