A DITCH, THOUGHT TO DATE TO THE LATE SAXON PERIOD WAS RECORDED DURING AN EVALUATION AT STATION ROAD. ITS POSITION AND ALIGNMENT SUGGEST THAT IT MAY REPRESENT THE NORTHERN BOUNDARY OF THE SAXON BURGH OF STAMFORD (SEE 30644). {1}
