PRN 34849 DURING A WATCHING BRIEF ON A WATER PIPELINE ON BRIDGE STREET, AT OBSERVATION A LATE SAXON POTTERY SHERD WAS RECOVERED, DATING FROM C10-C11, FROM WHAT MAY WELL HAVE BEEN PART OF A SAXON GROUND SURFACE ADJACENT TO THE RIVER. LAYERS CONTAINING MARINE MUSSEL SHELLS WERE ALSO RECORDED, POSSIBLY DATING FROM C. 700AD ONWARDS. {1}{2}
