Full Description

A windmill is depicted in this location on the 1st edition 6" Ordnance Survey County Series map. The structure is named as 'Carlby Windmill' and is labelled as a 'Corn' mill. {1} The structure is depicted on the 2nd edition 25" Ordnance Survey County Series map, but does not appear on later historic OS mapping for this area, suggesting it went out of use at some point in the early 20th century. {2} Although the mill has been demolished, its former site is clearly visible as a large earthwork mound on aerial photographs of this area. {3}{4}{5}
