KILN DISCOVERED DURING EXTENSIONS TO BOURNE GRAMMAR SCHOOL IN 1959. {2}
MUCH POTTERY FOUND DURING 1959 EXCAVATIONS, INCLUDING LARGE RED CALCITE GRITTED STORAGE JARS AND A STAMPED MORTARIUM RIM (DATING TO BETWEEN AD65 AND 90). {3}{4}
ONE KILN WAS EXCAVATED IN 1959 AND PRODUCTS INCLUDE 3RD AND 4TH CENTURY CALCITE GRITTED WARE JARS, DISHES AND CANDLESTICKS. THE STAMP AND OTHER SHERDS ARE IN CITY AND COUNTY MUSEUM, LINCOLN AND THE REST IS AT THE SCHOOL. {7}
TF098196 ROMANO BRITISH POTTERY FOUND NEAR KILN SITE. {6}, HTM 9M
During trial trenching at TF 0988 1953 a single stratified sherd of Roman greyware was recovered in a palaeochannel also dated to the Roman period. A second unstratified Roman sherd was also recovered. {12}{13}{14}
