Full Description

33184 A considerable scatter of Romano-British pottery a over large area reported in 1959. {1}{2}{3} The finds, which were fragmentary only, were retained by the finder.{1} A spread of pottery collected at different times of the season due to cropping. The site lies adjacent to an extinct course of the river Glen which is represented by a clayey hollow. The site is also partially on another smaller extinct meander of the watercourse. Pottery is most abundant around the farm buildings to the south. Limestone building rubble, some burnt, was found to the north-east of the farm. {6} Cropmarks are visible on aerial photographs, including enclosure cropmarks, which may relate to the finds. {7}
