Full Description
PRN 30758
The earliest occupation of the site represented by slots, post holes and shallow gullies dug into the natural subsoil which in the area is heavy yellow clay. These were the traces of rather slight timber buildings or fences and were associated with Stamford ware pottery, probably falling towards the beginning of the date range 850 to 1150. A vertical sided cess pit (about three foot six inches deep) should also probably be assigned to this period. {1}{2}
