Full Description
A C9-12 ironsmelting furnace discovered in High St on site to be developed by Peterboro BS. Excavated 1962-3 by Burchard for WVRC. Base of shaft furnace, taphole & slag basin, red ash, charcoal & iron slag; stratified sequence of pottery seen. Pottery c1100. {1}{2}{3}
