[Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.]
This building was built towards the end of the 15th century. Alterations were carried out in the 17th century and the rear wing dates to the 19th century, however the medieval priest's house survives substantially. It originally had an open hall - an upper floor was inserted in the 17th century. A partially blocked medieval fireplace remains, and most of the timber framed screen partition at the west end of the hall survives although it is hidden on one side by 19th century cupboards, and part of it may not be original. At the north end of the passage is an original although much altered doorway. The roof has crown posts and a collar purlin. The current windows are in 17th century style but most are probably of 19th century date. A drawing by Stukeley in 1735 shows earlier windows. The front door, which is shown in the 18th century drawing, has an inscribed jamb stone reading 'IH 1695'. A plan of 1841 shows a possible early stair turret projecting off the rear wall, which has now gone. {1}
This house dates to the late 16th century [this date is probably incorrect - see above]. It is a low two storey building constructed of coursed rubble with a slate roof. The low doorway has a stone incised in contemporary lettering 'IH 1695'. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2}
This house was the vicarage to All Saints' church until 1841. The present façade is 17th century but the building dates from the 15th century and originally had an open hall. {3}{4}
