Full Description
PRN 30206
Shrunken medieval village site by All Saints Church. {1}
During a watching brief, a Romano-British ditch was recorded, which had a sherd of medieval pottery in the upper fill. This suggests that the ditch remained extant until the medieval period, when it was deliberately infilled. A lens of burnt clay found in the same ditch-fill may suggest that demolition material was used as the infill for the ditch. A buried soil also recorded in a shallow rounded hollow is suggestive of ridge and furrow agriculture.{2}{3}
