Architecturally the church is Perpendicular with the exception of the Early English north arcade. {1}{2}
There is no record of a church in the Domesday Book but in 1087 a church of Seckebroc was given to Eye Priory. {3}
Sedgebrook Church of St Lawrence is built of iron stone with Ancaster stone dressings with some walls of Ancaster stone. Externally it was all built more or less at the same time in the fifteenth century. Internally the north arcade is early thirteenth century. There are many slate headstones in the churchyard. {2}
St Lawrence Church is a Grade I listed Parish Church. It was built in the mid 15th century but retains the early 13th century north arcade and the 14th century chancel arch and other fragments. The chancel and the south chapel were paid for by Sir John Markham in 1468. The building was restored in 1897. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {4}
Stonework was discovered during a watching brief in the churchyard. This includes remains of the known side chapel on the north side of the chancel as well as stonework which may indicate that the north aisle was once wider. A small amount of pottery and disarticulated human bone was also found. {5}{6}
Sedgebrook war memorial is the blue-faced clock with Roman numerals, affixed to the south façade of St Lawrence's Church tower. The clock was unveiled in 1920 to commemorate all those who fought in the First World War. A roll of honour, inscribed on an illuminated scroll decorated in green and gold and mounted in an oak frame, is situated inside the church. {7}
